ARTreach Adds Teacher Training Program

We are training new teachers in order to reach further into new communities, new agencies, new schools and new audiences! Many of our teachers have already had many years of experience as teachers and/or artists, so the process of incorporating their skills into ARTreach programs has been a very natural one, and we are excited to have them with us!

ARTreach currently brings visual arts with musical accompaniment to a rotating list of FBSMOW locations every Tuesday. At two locations, Rosenberg and Tri-City, we were requested to offer two art programs simultaneously. ARTreach was able to accommodate this request by incorporating teacher training into the programs at those locations, thus doubling visual arts programming on those days.

At Mamie George Community Center, ARTreach delivered the training program with very positive results, according to feedback from Terri Bieber, who works as Creative Aging Program Coordinator. Terri is also the founder of ARTreach, and we are so lucky to be able to engage with her as a community partner.

Our ARTreach Teachers in Training are Niv Sharma, Patricia May and Nicole Moraw, who are also dedicated ARTreach volunteers, serving seniors and children at risk in ARTreach programs at several agencies and locations.

We extend our thanks to George Foundation for their generous funding of this and other ARTreach programs!

ARTreach is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides mentoring and art-related programs to a growing population of children at risk, children and adults with special needs, the elderly and others in need.
