Summer Camp introduces art, business and a healthy lifestyle to at risk youth

ARTreach summer camp introduces art, business and a healthy lifestyle to children at risk in Fort Bend County

A unique day camp being held at the Katy Family YMCA

Fort Bend County, Texas ARTreach and the Katy Family YMCA are teaming to introduce Art and Business combined with Health and Fitness in a unique summer camp benefiting youth in Fort Bend County Project L.E.A.P. (Leadership- Education-Action Program).

Project HEART provides Hope & Education
ARTreach Project HEART Providing Hope and Education through the Arts in Africa

Katy resident and professional artist Vickie McMillan is in Africa this summer. She is photographing and painting the landscape, the animals, and the people. She is also piloting a special ARTreach Project called HEART (Hope and Education through the Arts) this is a program designed to equip the local people with creative skills they can use to make a living for their family.

Bridging Diversity
Houston TX, (July 7, 2008)- ARTreach is partnering with Catholic Charities to bring a series of special art classes to children at risk in the Catholic Charities Refugee Resettlement Program located in the Carlingford apartment complex at 6500 Gessner. Refugee children often arrive in the United States unable to speak English, and unfamiliar with the American culture. They suffer from the stress associated with family instability and face enormous challenges throughout their acculturation process.

Katy Restaurant Hosts The Art of Hugging for ARTreach

Katy, TX (July 20, 2008) On August 4, Pulcinella Ristorante will host a very special event, The Art of Hugging, to benefit ARTreach. At the one-time event, Michelle Nichols, a former Katy resident and BusinessWeek.com columnist, will talk about her new book Hug Your Kids Today! 5 Key Lessons for Every Working Parent. Performance artists will also create art and guests can sip wine and eat delicious Italian food.
